Easter Weekend in Texas

Finally getting around to a quick blog post about our Easter weekend - it was just Rod and I at home for this holiday, but we enjoyed the time.   Rod stayed an extra day, so we had time for work and fun and Easter.   Saturday was a "work hard in the yard day.   We got a lot done and the front yard looks great.  But because of that, we didn't get around to dying Easter Eggs until Sunday morning - and discovered we were low on white vinegar (needed for egg dying).   Since it was Sunday, we didn't want to run to the store, so we used various other acidic liquids we could find in the panty (see below).   It was an interesting adventure -- but the eggs came out looking bright and colorful, so I guess it worked.   Needless to say, I had several things to add to my grocery list, since we used up all the lemon juice and rice vinegar as well as the white vinegar.

And we made the traditional "Bunny Buns"
Monday was our "Play Day" -- we did lots of fun things, but the first activity of the day was picking strawberries at a farm/orchard near Fredericksburg.   The color of my pictures didn't come out so great (user error I'm sure), but the berries were deep red and very sweet.

Lots of fun!
