The Beltway - from Texas to Georgia to Missouri and Back

In mid-August we enjoyed a "ROAD TRIP", making a loop around through several states. Our first stop was Lookout Mountain, GA to check up on things at our mountain property there. We stayed in a lovely little cabin in the woods -- at Cloudland Canyon State Park.

Then we headed to St. Louis for the next couple of days -- who says zoos are for kids? We had a great time at the St. Louis zoo:

We rode the zoo train, OF COURSE!

There were five (5!! Usually these tigers have only two cubs at a time) baby tiger cubs, 3 months old, at the zoo -- and they were such fun to watch. Here they are playing tug-o-war, with one of the cubs playing the part of the rope -- one cub has him gripped by the teeth on one end and another cub has his chompers on him at the other end.
By the way, the mother tiger looked really worn out!

Oh yeah, and I got hit right in front of Union Station -- check out the car that hit me (none of this damage happened in our little mix up -- it was already there!), I think he was on break from his performance at a Demolition Derby!
Next stop, Branson, Missouri for a few days there with Grandma & Grandpa Larsen and Chris and Cory -- thank you to G&G for sharing their time share condo with us. "YES", we saw some dinner shows (the Dixie Stampede was a favorite), and "NO" we did not see the Osmonds, not even one of them, not even an Osmond impersonator. But we had a great time -- Grandma got serenaded at lunch one day by a young former American Idol competitor -- so we all had to buy his CD of course! (Autographed, so that made it really hard to pass up.....)

They had a Fire & Water Show on the river in Branson -- here's part of the daytime version -- we tried to catch the nighttime one, but arrived just in time to hear the final patriotic song and then the lights (or fire & water) went out!
